Covering the electricity demand in the house, charging the electric car or operating the heat pump with solar power from one’s own roof is becoming a reality for more and more households in Germany. Owners of photovoltaic systems, so-called prosumers, are pioneers of the energy transition. According to a recent survey by EUPD Research, 91 percent of those planning a photovoltaic or a storage system state that the experiences and opinions of other prosumers are of great importance. With 22,000 product ratings, the new SolarProsumerAward© from EUPD Research makes the enormous value of prosumer experiences visible for the first time.
Bonn. Against the background of climate change and rapidly rising electricity prices, a growing number of private households in Germany are deciding to install a photovoltaic system. By the end of 2022, the number of households with a solar system is expected to reach two million. These prosumer households generate solar power on the roof of their house and use part of the electricity produced for their own power supply.
The Bonn-based market and economic research company EUPD Research has been studying the global energy markets for more than 20 years. For the twelfth year in a row, EUPD Research is conducting the SolarProsumerMonitor© to analyze purchasing process for photovoltaic systems and complementary technologies such as storage solutions, energy management systems, electromobility and electric heating from the perspective of end customers. The results of the recent survey of PV system owners and planners show that the experiences and opinions of other customers are particularly important for owners and planners of PV and storage systems.
In order to make this wealth of experience accessible to other customers, EUPD Research initiated the SolarProsumerAward© as an award for outstanding providers of prosumer technologies. The best providers of prosumer technologies are awarded based on more than 22,000 customer ratings. Prosumers’ perceptions of the providers, their products and services form the basis of the EUPD Research SolarProsumerAward©.
“As owners or planners of photovoltaic systems with energy storage, e-car, charging infrastructure, heat pumps and energy management systems, knowledge, evaluation and the purchasing interest of prosumers for these elements of renewable home energy are essential evaluation criteria of the new award,” adds Markus A.W. Hoehner, founder and CEO of EUPD Research.
