Industrial Energy Efficiency Award 2020 at HANNOVER MESSE – Applications are now open!

After the success of the first Industrial Energy Efficiency Award in April 2019, the applications have opened once again for manufacturers and operators with energy efficient solutions! In this year’s edition, a special prize will be awarded to start-ups.

Bonn/Hannover. The industry causes around one fifth of CO2 emissions in Germany. The German Climate Action Plan 2050 sets a sector-specific goal to cut emissions by 50% until 2030. However, after the regression of emissions until 2014, economic growth and development since 2017 drove emissions up to 200 mega tones. To achieve the necessary reduction of at least 60 mega tones of CO2 emissions within the next decade, electrification of the industry and the realization of energy efficiency potentials are critical.

Following the great success of the first Industrial Energy Efficiency Award at HANNOVER MESSE in April 2019, applications are now open for the 2020 edition. The award targets national and international companies that manufacture or operate energy efficient solutions. A special prize is dedicated to start-ups in the energy efficiency ecosystem.

Application deadline is January 31, 2020. As in the previous edition, a highly qualified jury of industry and academic experts will analyze and evaluate the submitted documents. On April 21, 2020 the winners of the second Industrial Energy Efficiency Award will be handed their prize at HANNOVER MESSE.

“The large number of applications from multi-national corporations to regional, medium-sized companies for the Industrial Energy Efficiency Award 2019 are an impressive documentation for the relevance of the topic across countries and industries.”, comments Dr. Martin Ammon, Executive Director of EuPD Research and Project Lead of the Industrial Energy Efficiency Award.

Ulrike Hammer, Senior Project Director at HANNOVER MESSE adds: „The efficient use of energy is a global challenge. As leading global industry fair, the HANNOVER MESSE takes on the responsibility of offering innovative energy efficiency solutions and the Industrial Energy Efficiency Award a platform.”
