Given the ongoing discussion about module test methods and the continuing growth of demand for technical papers and background reports, EuPD Research has steadily expanded their range of analyses, products and consulting services over the last few years.

Along with analyses of industry and potential, evaluation of different locations and a segment study for building-integrated photovoltaics (BIPV), we have also just published a new report entitled “Measuring the Performance and Yield of Solar Modules and Module Tests”.

For this analysis, which provides an overview of the multitude of measuring and testing methods, we were priviledged to work with Dr. Ing. Jürgen Arp, a renowned author with a wealth of comprehensive experience in the area of material testing and quality control. The report is intended to serve as an orientation and argumentation aid for the technology and development, marketing, IR and sales departments of solar companies.

Various measuring and testing methods are introduced and ranked in the analysis. Along with an explanation of the situation – what motivates the system operator – the report also examines different measuring methods, such as outdoor laboratory measuring as well as lab values or measurements provided by the manufacturer. In addition the parameters for energy yield (where the location, system, services and module all play a specific role) are dealt with. Finally, the conclusion builds an overview of comparison tests for solar modules conducted by specialist magazines and Stiftung Warentest.

In the February issues of “pv magazine” and "photovoltaik" you will find an exclusive and comprehensive report on the module test paper. Subscribers of the magazine are able to order a version of the module test paper at no extra charge.
