THE GERMAN PHOTOVOLTAIC MARKET 2006 - FROM EXCESS DEMAND TO COMPETITION   The German photovoltaic sector is growing. Only during the last year, a photovoltaic capacity of about 600 MW has been newly installed, the sector’s turnover increased to about 3.7 bn Euros. The new booming industry creates employment; crafts enterprises and the producing industry have the biggest share in these new jobs. Simultaneously, market participants have to cope with the silicon shortage, which has led to increasing prices, and a decreasing feed-in tariff. Here, a sectoral and political counter- steering is required.
